Logistics Specialist UMUC Asia
Location: Yokota Air Base, Japan
Overseas Contingent III, 100%-Ti me, Grade 003
University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Asia seeks a Logistics Specialist and reports directly to the Regional Director for the Japan region. The position serves as an extension of the UMUC Asia headquarters to the field on logistical matters.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Ensuring base access and transportation needs are met for the existing and incoming/outgoing staff and faculty as well as staff on TDY
Assisting with the NACI background check for new and existing staff/faculty
Processing initial and renewal of base and vehicle passes for non-SOFA faculty
Serving as a liaison with on/off base vendors, hotels, and housing management offices
Coordinating/assisting with the contracts for local internet providers, water and electricity companies
Ordering supplies for the office
Maintaining the inventory
Resolving building and equipment issues
Assist with arranging hotels, facilities, and other associated arrangements for meetings and workshops
May need to assist with picking up/dropping off visitors/faculty at the airport
Communicating and keeping a good working relationship with various military affiliated offices necessary for processing logistics paperwork for our staff and faculty
Assist in serving as a NEO officer for the Japan region
Performing administrative duties to support the regional office;
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AN D EXPERIE NCE:
High school diploma or GED
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills
Able to speak, read, and write the host country's language (Japanese) fluently
Ability to prioritize, multitask, pay great attention to detail, and meet strict deadlines
Discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to represent UMUC effective ly in a high visibility office
Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and be proficient in databases usage
Possess a valid local driver's license
Able to lift up to 25 lbs. of materials
Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills
Successful applicants must be able to pass a U.S. background check and must have or be eligible for U.S. SOFA
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Two (2) years' experience working in an administrative support position
WHO MAY APPLY: Applicants with individual logistical support (ILS) preferred. Applicant must qualify for ILS. Criteria under which applicants qualify for ILS are: must serve the US Forces exclusively; are not stateless persons; are not ordinarily resident in the host nation.
