About The team
The Akamai DPM offering sits within the Web Division.
The Akamai Web Division is responsible for growing customer count and revenues for Akamai in key verticals - Digital Media, High Tech, Retail, eCommerce & Financial Services
This role will report into the Strategic Product Sales team. This team is responsible for driving the adoption of our new and emerging technologies across all verticals.
The Akamai Digital Performance Management (DPM) Solutions Engineer role is the pre-sales technical face and voice of Akamai and the primary technical resource for the sales force. This role supports each of Akamai’s DPM products: CloudTest (load and performance testing) and mPulse (real user monitoring, front-end web performance).
The Solutions Engineer is responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products. The Solutions Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. The role requires the ability to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts, establish and maintain strong relationships, and ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.
Responsible for development and delivery of product demonstrations and POCs
Responsible for representing the product to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Able to establish technical relationships, become a trusted advisor, and provide technical leadership throughout the sales process
Able to convey customer requirements to Product Management teams and other stakeholders
Able to travel throughout sales territory (25%)
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, MIS or Engineering or equivalent work experience
Fluent in Japanese and Business level English
5+ years relevant experience in vendor sales as a sales engineer
Deep knowledge of web front-end technologies and FEO techniques
Experience with load/performance testing
Excellent communication, listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize workload among changing priorities
Experience with at least one programming/scripting language is a plus
Experience with one or more APM tools is a plus
