Job Purpose/Background:

Japan EII group is staffed with professionals who have significant experience within their respective markets. Our portfolio engineering team manages index equity funds including institutional mandates, ETFs and mutual funds for Japanese clients, and, all our clients benefit from our portfolio engineering expertise and risk management analytics. Japan EII portfolio engineers leverage the expertise of colleagues in the other locations through the shared world-class research, global trading knowledges and risk management platform. We would like to offer the opportunity to join Japan EII group as an Analyst/Associate, who will be stationed in Japan and support the day-to-day management of index equity portfolios as well as the development of the index equity business in Japan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily portfolio management tasks; liquidity management, portfolio rebalancing, risk and performance measurement.

  • Apply analytical and qualitative skills and market knowledge to portfolio design and new product development.

  • Support client-facing groups in research, client reporting and ad-hoc requests.

  • Research index events and evaluate trading opportunities. Perform pre-trade analysis, develop trading strategy with risk framework, and evaluate trading results and impact on the portfolio.

  • Work with colleagues of EII in SF, LDN, HK, and other locations, and achieve the best practice of index portfolio management.

  • Introduce global capability to Japan portfolios so that Japan clients can enjoy world-class index portfolio management.

Knowledge/Experience (Desirable):

  • Working knowledge of the operational aspects of portfolio management.

  • Understanding index methodologies and portfolio construction

  • Ability to contribute to system and process developments.

  • Skills of performance measurement and attribution.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills in investments. Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, similar related field preferred, or relevant experience.

  • Keen interest in Financial Markets.

  • High level of attention to details.

  • A great team player with the ability to take ownership in assignments while producing high quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Japanese.

  • Highly computer literate.
