This position is located at Okinawa, Japan (Kadena Air Force Base).

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is worldwide. **Must be willing to move to Kadena Air Base at your own expense or able to commute to the installation on a daily basis. This job has weekly cut offs. First cut-off date is 14 March 2018. All individuals who apply prior to 14 March 2018 will be referred to selecting manager for first consideration. If no selection is made all individuals who apply prior to next cut off will be referred and so on until a selection is made.

  • Diagnoses animal health problems; vaccinates against diseases, such as distemper and rabies; medicates animals suffering from infections or illnesses; treats and dresses wounds, seat fractures; performs surgery.
  • Advise owners about animal feeding, behavior, and breeding.
  • Issues health certificates.
  • Performs and interprets laboratory findings. Maintains health records and prepares reports as necessary.

Possess a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, i.e., Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD), obtained at a school or college of veterinary medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education (AVMA). Possess a state license to practice veterinary medicine (may be a valid state license from any US state).

Salary is pro-rated based on a 40 hour work week. Hourly salary is $35.94 to $40.72.
