Oversees a combination of Logistics activities including production control, inventory management, warehousing, packaging, transportation at the local plant level. Manages the local Logistics team at Chiba Plant..
Oversees all Logistics functions at the plant level. Ensures development and implementation of production plans based on sales forecasts and plant capacity, materials requirement plans, as well as the transportation and warehousing of incoming and outgoing materials.
Ensures generation of forecasts and creation of short and long-term production plans. Coordinates demand planning analysis and recommends solutions to capacity problems. Coordinates preparation of production schedules.
Manages warehousing, packing and shipping activities. Ensures adequate capacity to meet demand.
Works with regional purchasing in establishing internal controls for the safeguarding of all tangible assets, cash expenditures for materials and supplies.
Plans, prepares, and monitor departmental budgets and expenditures to meet financial cost targets and objectives established through formal planning processes.
Effectively practices Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees, direct as well as matrix reports, and assuring effective alignment with the matrix functions.
Participates as an active member of the site Management Team.
Participates as an active member of the Regional Logistics Management Team.
Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
Solid knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning theories, practices and systems/software applications. Understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) principles and practices.
Working knowledge of strategic planning, forecasting and inventory and capital planning process.
Business management skills including ability to develop, translate and manage strategy to formulate and monitor budgets, expenses and costs.
Communication and interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate a staff.
Analysis and problem solving skills.
English proficiency (Reading/Writing/Speaking)
Bachelor/University degree in Logistics or Industrial Engineering.
5+ years’ logistics experience, preferably in the chemical or related industry.
Logistics experience in planning activities downstream or upstream, transport organization, inventory management and enterprise-wide (ERP) systems.
